On a perfect Saturday morning, 15-20 women of the Kalmia Garden Club engaged in a two hour restoration of their wonderful and decades old gift of flower beds, given yearly to the residents of the Chambers Street apartments of the Needham Housing Authority. Leading with energy and enthusiasm, Needham's premier volunteer gardeners brought life and color to push back against the moribund state of affairs and pandemically induced depression having mostly to do with the perrenially degraded condition of the property at Chambers Street.
Not only were new flowers brought in, but the old plants were recycled and replanted by residents, spreading the joy of life through the irrefutable persistence of hostas in the shade and daisies in the sun. The potting soil that was delivered, included a bonus amendment: worms! (see the worm)
